Aggregate

This sculptural work, entitled Aggregate, uses the materials and textures of the Brisbane Showgrounds. The starting point for the sculpture was the porphyry rock displaced to make way for the development of King Street. 

Concrete was chosen to reflect the materials and textures as a reminder of the cycles of change and renewal of materials and history. The materials, skills and technology involved in the production of concrete also have a deep geological history in themselves. 

The sculpture’s form and content reflect the changes and movement of materials, people and stories of this site, into what it is today.
